Fiestas de San Antonio

San Antonio

The festivities in honour of Saint Anthony are celebrated the weekend closest to January 17th and its three characteristic features are the saint Anthony's bonfire, the blessing of animals and the sharing of Saint Anthony’s blessed roll.

The Bonfire of Saint Anthony is burned in Plaza del Raval. Chocolate and sweets are distributed among participants who approach to the flames’ heat. The following day, it’s time for the procession and blessing of animals –during this event the popular blessed roll is dealt. Lately, this parade of animals has become a wonderful display of chivalry, as a sign of the great equestrian love coming from Onda’s people.
